The teenagers aquitted themselves well but came up against tough British opponents with Bois (14) losing 6-0, 6-2 to Michelle Farley and Kirsten McArthur (17) going out to Elisha Hande 6-3, 6-2.
Hande, ranked in the top 50 nationally at under-18 level, goes on to face the sixth seed for the qualifiers Helen Parish, Britain’s No 24, while Farley, Britain’s No 33, takes on Josanne Van Bennekom of the Netherlands.
The highlight of the qualifiers yesterday came from another all-British contest with Sophie Nelson, just outside of the top 200 in Britain, getting the better of No 98 Natasha Starling 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
The final round of qualifying for the Men’s ATP Challenger Tour 42,500 euro event gave Switzerland’s Roman Valent a spot in the main draw with a 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (2) win over top seed Benoit Paire of France.
The match of the round brought Daniel Cox a 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (8) triumph having fought off fellow Brit Matthew Illingworth, and two match points, to take the win. The reward for his efforts is a clash with top seed, and former world No 33, Florian Mayer of Germany, this afternoon.
