The 33-year-old, who won the 250cc World Championship in 2001 and 2002, made an appearance on Saturday and won two MX2 classes at the Sorel event.

Pichon wowed the crowds and gave everyone a glimpse of the high standard needed to compete at international level but he also left the local competitors with some lasting memories.

Not least of all Ryan Gregory who nailed the holeshot, beating Pichon to the first corner in one race and Harry Bertram who diced with the former World Champion in the second race.

Gregory’s regular top five finishing over the two days brought him the 250cc overall win and proved that both speed and consistency remain a winning formula.

Harry Bertram, who won the Holeshot Award for the meeting, was just two points adrift for the runners up spot as Chris Le Marquand took third. Declan Hussey’s tremendous performance earned him not only fourth place but also the Man of the Meeting Award.
