Four survive plane crash in Alderney

Two couples from England, who had flown from Jersey, managed to clamber free of their light aircraft, which came to a halt just 30 yards from a clifftop.

A 40-year-old woman passenger broke her knee and was later flown to Guernsey for treatment, while the other three were treated in hospital in Alderney.

The plane, a Piper Cherokee PA32 light aircraft, crash-landed after it fell out of the sky and careered through a farmer’s field about 500 metres from the airport runway soon after 1 pm.
