The Waterfront Enterprise Board has submitted plans for the apartments and hopes to secure development permission by the end of next month.

The proposed development will be named Zephyrus and will be constructed next to another new development of luxury apartments named Westwater, which will be right beside the Radisson hotel.

WEB say that Zephyrus would cost about £25 million to build and would contain 59 apartments. These would vary in size from 500 sq ft up to 3,000 sq ft and would provide a total of 127 bedrooms.

WEB managing director Stephen Izatt said that some of the smaller units would be available to first-time buyers, but the remainder would be offered for private sale. He said that the Zephyrus blocks would ‘book-end’ that area of the waterfront and reach the same height as the south-west corner of the hotel.
