Parents furious over school appointment

FURIOUS La Moye School parents have sent a petition to Education protesting about the appointment of a new head teacher.

They are upset because a teacher from the UK has been brought in to replace the long-serving deputy head, who had been filling in as head since September.

Mark de Luca (pictured) has been acting head at La Moye since Anne Taylor’s retirement last summer, and has taught in Jersey since 1981. He has worked at the primary for 11 years. For the last eight he has been deputy head.

However, Jacqueline Bell-Cook, a head teacher from Hertfordshire, is to take on the position full-time from September. Following the announcement almost 200 parents signed a petition, and copies have been sent to Education director Mario Lundy and Education Minister James Reed.
