THERE were victories for Warriors and Dragons in last week’s Cronus & Microgen Basketball League fixtures at Langford.

Deerglen Warriors 76, Axle Invaders 38: Warriors settled quickest and found space under the basket for Matt Du Bourg and Mark MacGregor to pick up easy scores. Warriors soon replaced the starting five with the bench, a trend that would continue through the match, with Isidro De Mata making his debut. Invaders struggled and were forced to shoot and miss from range, the rebounds being taken by Richard Michel.

Warriors started the second quarter 14-6 up and soon added three more baskets before Invaders started to find their feet with Andrew Hassan, in particular, driving in and picking up points. Warriors led 28-14 at the break.

Warriors restarted with quick, strong offence, with juniors Kamil Szczerbiak and Jake Michel, in particular, excelling as they hit the Invaders on the fast break. De Mata also made his mark, finding space to score six points in a row.
