LAST weekend was the turn of the pros at Hotel de France – and this weekend Guernsey’s Beau Séjour showcases some of the very best amateur boxing talent the Channel Islands has to offer.
As the excitement settles after Sheffield fighter Clinton Woods’ magnificent world title eliminator win over Kosovo’s Elvir Muriqi, Jersey’s Shane Goggin, Alex Begbie, Boyd Monroe, Ricky Pryor and Tommy Frame target their own success over amateur Sarnian opponents, as CI boxers meet for the first time in more than 50 years.
Also on the billing are boxers from Alderney and one from London, who will square up to Jersey’s Southern Counties representative boxer Ben Murray.
Jersey Leonis ABC head coach Dave Thompson said: ‘On paper most of the bouts look very, very good. Our boys have been training really hard and they’re looking forward to it. As with most other inter-island sport, it will create an amazing atmosphere.’
