IT was giveaway time at the Jersey Squash Club this week, with pupils from Samarès, First Tower, Springfield, Victoria College Prep, Trinity, and St Martin, picking up free squash festival equipment.
The primary schools are part of the Bedell Group Squash Programme and they will receive rackets, balls, mini squash rebound net, leaflets on the Island squash programme as well as teacher training.
The programme has delivered festivals to all the above primary schools, reaching out to 2,100 children, while a further three are booked in for next month.
Squash development officer Nick Taylor is hoping that the remaining schools will sign up. Said Taylor: ‘With the support of Bedell and England Squash we can offer every primary school a free festival. This is a great opportunity and does not cost the school a penny.’
