JERSEY swimmer Ian Black added another Island long course record to his already bulging collection after a massive drop in the 200 metres breast-stroke.

Black, pictured, achieved his new mark of two minutes 24.74 seconds last weekend while representing the City of Perth at the Western Australian Championships where he won two gold, two silver and one bronze medal.

AIB Tigers coach Nathan Jégou said: ‘Ian has settled in very well out in Australia and it is showing in his performances. Every time he is in a gala he is very close to or he is breaking records. His 200 breast time is a six-second personal best because previously has never gone under two minutes 30.

‘It was mighty impressive too because he has taken part in the championship while also being in full training.

‘Early morning training could have meant anything between four and six kilometres in the pool so his performance is pretty impressive. The racing comes as an add-on to the training which is proof of how well he is doing because training is very tough for all swimmers.’
