COMPUTER Patent Annuities is expanding its legal process outsourcing business.

Until now the company, which has its headquarters in Jersey, has specialised in intellectual property but is now offering general legal processing from its Indian operation, in particular litigation support services and contract management services.

The IP services centre was established last year at a new business centre outside Delhi and currently employs 400 staff, but is likely to grow to well over 1,000. Newly appointed chairman Geoffrey Grime (pictured) explained: ‘There are some synergies, as CPA is already carrying out work for a number of law firms.’

He said that the service was particularly useful if, for example, a legal firm in another jurisdiction wanted work carried out overnight. Mr Grime has been on the CPA board since June 2007 and was appointed chairman on 1 August. Shortly after his new appointment he persuaded the board to sponsor the Battle of Flowers.
