RELIEF Magistrate Richard Falle yesterday moved to calm the storm which followed reports that he threatened to jail anyone who did not stand during morning prayers in his courtroom.
In a statement read out in court, he said that he had made the comments to ‘uphold the dignity and authority of the court’ and not because he was a supporter of any religious pomp or ceremony.
The controversy was sparked last week when a man at the back of the Magistrate’s Court failed to stand up at the start of the day.
