MINISTERS have been told to be more open about the committee of chief officers that meets every fortnight.
The Corporate Services Scrutiny panel say that States Members and the public need to know more about the Corporate Management Board, its role, terms of reference and standards of conduct. In a letter to Chief Minister Frank Walker, panel chairman Pat Ryan (pictured) says that their role needs to be better defined.
It is not the first time that ministers have been criticised over the lack of information and openness of the group, which is chaired by States chief executive Bill Ogley. In February Deputy Gerard Baudains won the right for States Members to see the minutes of the Corporate Management Board, despite opposition from ministers. States Members backed that proposition but did not back a move to allow Members to sit in on the meetings.
In the letter, which was copied to Mr Ogley, Deputy Ryan wrote that the debate in February and previous public hearings had highlighted the lack of information about the panel.
