Don’t complain . . . Just be glad you’ve got somewhere to live

From Ann Paxton.
I was amazed and angry to read in Saturday’s JEP that some of the residents of Broadlands, who have been temporarily rehomed, are criticising their present lodgings.
This tiny island has come up trumps as usual. We have waded in straight away to help those less fortunate than ourselves, and in doing so we have raised an incredible amount of cash in donations, toys and clothing to assist those who have lost so much in the fire.
Instead of complaining, how nice it would be if they could say thank you to all those who have helped them out.
May I ask how much the landlord of Broadlands has offered his tenants?
As a lodging house, was Broadlands regularly checked for fire risks?
I think that a lot of questions need to be answered before another tragedy like this occurs.
Finally, if the question is to be asked — yes, I have donated to those who have lost so much.
