JERSEY’S new Honorary French Consul chose the timely celebration of Sunday’s Bastille Day to step into his new role in Jersey.
David Myatt, the managing director of BNP Paribas, has been appointed by the French Consul General in London.
Mr Myatt takes over from Robin Pallot, who has held the position for over 14 years and chose to step down at the celebrations in the Town Hall yesterday. The Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache, was also at the festivities.
Mr Myatt is a former Victoria College student whose career has taken him as far afield as the Far East and India. Mr Pallot had said that it was a great honour to have been in the role and he hoped that his successor enjoyed it as much as he had.
