EMMA Glendening was the first swimmer home in the Jersey Swimming Club’s inaugural race around St Aubin’s Fort.

Glendening beat the boys and crossed the finish line in 27 minutes 16 seconds – 12 seconds ahead of first-placed male Daniel Halksworth.

Almost 80 swimmers turned out for the event, with participants from JSC, AIB Tigers, the Jersey Long Distance Swimming Club, WaterPolo and the Royal Life Saving Society, as well as Jersey triathletes.

JSC president Jeremy Le Maistre thanked everyone who had assisted the swim, including surf kayakers, sea cadets, and JLDSC and JSC personnel, who organised guard boats, placing judges, timekeepers and a referee.
