JERSEY would love to host the Jeux des Iles in the future but lack the funding to do so.
That was the message relayed to the games organisation CROJI by Jersey team manager, Hugh Raymond, at a meeting in Guadeloupe last week.
‘We laid our cards on the table,’ said Raymond who returned from the Games, in which Jersey secured tenth place with 23 medals plus another three in the demonstration sport of surfing, on Sunday.
‘Guadeloupe had access to funding from the European Union and also from the French Olympic Committee. However, Jersey cannot access money from Europe nor from the UK.
