TRAINER Alyson Malzard once again dominated proceedings at the Jersey Race Clubs May bank holiday meeting enjoyed by a crowd nearing 1,500, sending out three winners, including the feature race victor, Jilvaro.
What makes two of her wins even more significant is the fact that both Jilvaro and Koka Fast carried overweight and still managed to salute the judge.
The main race on the card was the Mitie Warwick Vase, which produced the middle leg of the Malzard treble. Jilvaro, who had been an impressive winner on Easter Monday before failing to be sighted in his following racecourse appearance, got the better of last year’s Clarenedon winner Danehill Dancer under strong driving from Alan Crighton and getting the verdict by a head.
Crighton was putting up one pound overweight on the winner, who appeared to stick to his task well, although it was surprising that the stewards failed to ask his connections to explain the reasons for the his previous lacklustre run which sandwiched his two wins.
