It was on 12 May 1998 that Dr Alberto Jo”o Jardim and the Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache, put their signatures to the memorandum of understanding and friendship in a ceremony held in the Old Library.

And they will both return there on 10 May to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the signing of the document that brought the two islands closer together.

Dr Jardim arrives in the Island on Thursday and will attend the Liberation Day celebrations with the Bailiff and the Lieutenant-Governor, Lieutenant-General Andrew Ridgway, on Friday.
