The event, held at Les Quennevais pool last weekend was divided into two categories: junior (14 and under) and open.

Tigers SC’s Glendening was young enough to win both the 100m freestyle and 200m individual medley junior events and quick enough to take the Open titles in the same events. Her freestyle effort also brought her the Coca-Cola Trophy for the best female individual performance.

The unusual feat of winning events in both the junior and open categories was repeated by Katy Glendening in the 400m IM, Charlotte Manning in the 100m breaststroke and Kerrie Smith in the 100m backstroke. There were also wins for Tigers’ Charlotte Samson (junior 100m butterfly) and Jersey SC’s Rebecca Le Maistre (open 100m butterfly).

Stood out

In the men’s Open section it was Ian Black of Tigers who stood out with 100m freestyle, breaststroke and 200m IM wins, the latter two breaking meet records. His 200m IM also secured the Lloyds TSB Trophy for the best male performance.

Michael Le Couilliard (TSC) was impressive in winning the 100m butterfly, and club-mate Tom Gallichan won the 100m backstroke.

Tigers’ JJ Gallichan, who was judged to have given the best overall performance and therefore won the Colley Family Trophy, won the 400m IM.

The junior boys’ section was dominated by Jeux des Iles-bound Conor Mallett of Jersey Swimming Club, who won five of the six trophies available – in the 100m backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, 200m IM and 400m IM. Club-mate Liam Spencer swam well to take the 100m butterfly.
