The Waterbuoy is a device which enables sailors to locate their keys, a grab bag or even a mobile phone if they drop them into the sea.
Small enough to attach to a key ring, the Waterbuoy releases an orange balloon when it comes into contact with water. The balloon has a flashing light inside, so that it can be seen in the dark.
Dominic Zonta, of Channel Islands Boat Maintenance, who has the distribution rights for the Waterbuoy in the Channel Islands, said that he first heard about it from a friend who had watched the BBC’s Dragon’s Den.
‘I thought it sounded brilliant – a cracking idea – and I got on to the website straight away,’ he said.
