The Jersey-incorporated company – a household name among stamp enthusiasts -has its main shopping outlet at 399 The Strand in London, reputedly the largest stamp shop in the world, but last year it was decided to open a shop in Guernsey, which did so well that the board has recently given the go-ahead to further Channel Islands investment.
‘Guernsey is profitable in its own right,’ said company secretary Richard Purkis. ‘In the past year we have sold over £1 million worth of stamps to Channel Islands residents alone, so working on the premise that Jersey is bigger than Guernsey, it seems the right way forward.’
