Kay Lefebvre beat Nicola Duke to win the ladies’ title at the NatWest Jersey Open yesterday. Yorkshire’s Ben Barlow beat UK player Matt Ware 3-1 to win the men’s title. Other winners: U21 men: Matt Ware; Veteran: John Magnell; U14 boys: Liam Robilliard; Junior boys: Ryan Collins; Junior girls: Helen Liron; Restricted singles: Paul Marshall.

BOWLS – Guernsey win:

Guernsey won the men’s Le Quesne team bowls inter-insular on Saturday with a +13 result. Jersey’s Scott Ruderham and Gaynor Thomas won the Mixed Pairs 18-17, Malcolm de Sousa took the U18s singles title 21-9 while Richard Hill beat David Bowyer 21-12 for the Over-60s’ honours. Jersey’s Michael Rive, Scott Ruderham and Ian Partridge won the open triples but the open fours team of de Sousa, Ross Davis, Mike Everingham and Rachel McDonald lost 25-20. Ruderham won the U35s singles 21-2; Angus McKinnon and John Lowery won the open pairs 22-14 and Michael and Freda Videgrain lost the married pairs 27-7.

GYMNASTICS – Huby wins silver:

Regent Gymnastics Club’s Shannon Huby (9) took a silver medal at Grade Five in the Southern Regional Grades finals at Milton Keynes with a score of 60.75. Emily Durance (9) was eighth with 59.49, Hannah Galvin 19th and Holly Kempsey 27th. At Grade Six Alexis Robbins (8) placed 18th with 60.05 and Kirstie Gardiner 22nd with 59.30. Jersey Gymnastics Club had four girls score personal bests at Grade Five – Teigan Purkiss (55.40), Shannon Webber (54.70), Claudine Ollivro du Heaume (54.60) and Cassidy McFarland (52.80).

CYCLING – Winning return:

Chris Spence won the JCA’s Ten-Mile Time Trial yesterday, with Alistair Cann second and James Amy third. Dave Mayman was top Veteran, Chris Serviour fastest junior and Helen Goulding won the ladies’ event.

SAILING – Hobie racing:

Gordon Burgis and crew Ken Snell won A Fleet races five and six in the RCIYC Hobie Spring Series yesterday in St Aubin’s Bay. Andy Horner and son Adam were second and third, while David Carter with David Voak crewing took third and second. In the B Fleet Luc Richard and Eileen Allen won the first race and next placed second with Aaron Le Cornu and Richard Moir, the winners of the second race, taking second in the first outing. Third in both races were Jeremy Smith and Giles Corbin. All crews raced Hobie 16s.

Brown wins: Allen Brown’s The Dogs wonrace three of the St Helier Yacht Club Lloyds TSB Coastal Series on Saturday, with David Myatt’s The Bees taking second and Steve Pearl’s Less Xpense third.

MOTOR SPORT – Karting:

The Jersey Kart and Motor Club AR&M Venton kart race at Sorel yesterday brought class wins for Sam Allen (four-stroke cadet), Edward Fossey (two stroke cadet), Connor Carre (minimax), Joshua Vautier (junior max), Alex Troy (senior max) and Gary Ferey (125 open).

VOLLEYBALL – Champions win:

The indoor season was brought to a close with victories for the winners of Insurance Corporation JVA Volleyball leagues. The winners of the Ladies’ League, 2e2 Panthers, beat IC Jets 3-2 (22-25, 25-16, 25-27, 25-14, 15-11), while 2e2 Tigers beat HLB Foxes 3-1 (25-18, 25-11, 22-25, 25-20). In the Men’s League, Pentagon Red Hot Tomatoes beat the IC JVA team 3-1 (25-19, 25-15, 23-25, 25-18) and Astros beat HLB Island Ladies 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-13).

SHOOTING – Douglas on target:

MArk Douglas won the Modern and Military Arms Association’s most prestigious Cup on Saturday, the Corbett Cup, with a combined score of 192.

Rifle winners: Daniel Richardson won the Jersey Rifle Association’s Metric Shoot at 300m while Colin Mallett took the honours in the 500 yard Rapid shoot held at Crabbe.

Honours shared: Paul le Neveu, Colin Mallett and Brian Bourne shared the High Gun honours at the Crabbe Clay Pigeon Club’s 50-Bird Sporting yesterday, all shooting 44 ex 50. Nothing could separate Chris L’Amy and Keith Pike as they shared the A Class win with 43, and it was the same in the B Class, with Ross Boydens and Howard Durell winning with 41, and also in the C Class, as Graham Miller and Fernando Carvalho shared the win with 37. John Bedford was the sole winner with 43 ex 50.

Lecq clays: It was a similar story at the Lecq Clay Target Club’s 50-Bird Sporting, as Ashley Le Sech and Mark Andrews shared the High Gun honours with 46 ex 50. Le Sech was the winner of Class AAA and Andrews took the win in Class AA, in which second place was shared between Dave Le Rendu, Graham Le Cornu and Richard Le Brun all on 41. Other results: Class B: 1, Alistair Drummond-Forbes 43; 2, Chris Settle 41; 3, Mike Barnes Snr 40. Class C: 1, Rob Larbalestier 40; 2, Rob Wilson 37; 3, Chris Pett 36. Ladies: 1, Kay Cragg. GOLF – Tour draw:

The CI men’s golf team, made up entirely of Jersey players, came away with a 6-6 draw in their tour match against Hampshire.

McCann can: Richard McCann, off 12 handicap, won Les Mielles Golf Club’s Mings Dynasty Trophy Stableford on Saturday with 40 points. Richard Muddyman (6 hcp) was second on 39 pts and Martin Smith (6hcp) third on 37 pts.

Spring success: Dean McNamara (15 hcp) won Les Ormes’ Spring Cup yesterday with a net 61. Franco Rizzuto (25 hcp) was second on 64 with Dale Martin (12 hcp) third on 64.

Tombstone Trophy: Ray Pearce (12 hcp) won the Demi Golf Society Tombstone Trophy with David Le Duc (20 hcp) second and Ian Beeley (11 hcp) third.

Rumball Prize: Simon Mills reduced his handicap by one shot after winning the Jersey Western GC Rumball Prize Stableford yesterday with 40 points, two points ahead of junior Island player Paul Aitkens. Dan Bolton was third.
