St Clement are unbeaten throughout the season, the biggest threat to this record being their 33-33 draw with Convent A in February.
‘It’s been a fantastic season and it’s great to win the league,’ said St Clement captain Zoe Hotton.
‘We’re undefeated, won with a clear margin, and also brought in a young player in Emma Carre as shooter. That was a lot of responsibility for someone so young and she’s handled the pressure really well.
‘Convent have had a really strong squad, I know they are young, but they are still extremely talented so it will be interesting to see what happens next season as we will now look to bring in more young players into our team.
‘We’ve gelled really well this year and a lot of players have featured for the Island which is good for our club and we’ve also won the important matches.
‘Last night was a lovely match to finish with, it was Sharon West’s last game for the A team and my last as captain so it was a nice way to go out by winning the league.
‘Now we have the Upton match against the Guernsey champions, which is looking to be Nerine A, on April 27 and although it will be tough as they field almost an Island side, we are confident of going there and getting the double while we’d also like to win the champions v the rest match.’
With St Ouen A scratching their Monday night match to St Clement A, the favourites for the title must have felt relieved that they would not need to play two games in two days.
Last night at Les Quennevais they took a comfortable win over St Lawrence B with Zoe Hotton deservedly taking the Player of the Match honours for the champions and Elianne Riant the honours for St Lawrence.
