After complaints from members of the public, the JCRA launched an inquiry into whether the Island’s main distributors of the fuel were fixing their prices.
The JCRA found that JCD and Patch were parallel pricing – matching each other’s prices – but were not making any deliberate or agreed deal to charge the same.
Following the JCRA’s findings, the two fuel distributors agreed to sign a Coal Industry Code of Practice, which promises that they will make an effort to make the coal market work better for consumers.
