Canadian High Commissioner James Wright, who is visiting the Island, discussed the possibility of signing a tax information agreement at his meeting with the Chief Minister, Senator Frank Walker, yesterday.

Jersey has signed TIA agreements with more than a dozen countries and Mr Wright said that an agreement between the Island and Canada would strengthen links that date back more than 400 years.

‘The Canadian government is interested in negotiating a tax information agreement – something that is in the interests of both Jersey and Canada,’ he said.
