And Economic Development Minister Philip Ozouf told a scrutiny panel this week: ‘To be honest, the sale of Jersey Telecom is a bit of sideshow in what I am trying to achieve in telecoms.’
The Minister said that the need to ensure that all telecom companies have equal access to the network was vital for proper competition to flourish.
And it looks likely that the subject of ‘functional separation’ of the network from the retail activities of Jersey Telecom (JT) will dominate a States debate on the sale of the utility company planned for January – if it goes ahead.
