The Island’s competition regulator had set a deadline on phone operators to introduce mobile number portability (MNP) by 12 February next year.
MNP will allow Islanders to keep their telephone number when they move from one service provider to another.
Research by the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority (JCRA) indicated that 91% of Islanders felt it would be important to keep their number if switching operator.
However, Jersey Telecom (JT) made an appeal against the decision by the regulator for MNP to be in place by mid-February.
