The 2007 Jersey Heritage Trust Portrait was painted by artist Stephen Shankland.
The portrait of Mr Le Sueur (87) was unveiled at the Museum before the Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache, and a large gathering of friends and colleagues from Hautlieu, as well as the huge range of organisations with which he is involved.
Mr Le Sueur is a retired Hautlieu teacher, a champion of Jersey’s heritage, traveller and humanitarian who was decorated by the Soviet Union for his courage in helping escaped Russian prisoners during the Occupation.
The chairman of the Jersey Heritage Trust’s Commissions and Collections committee, Philip Le Brocq, said that the trust had received a letter from the chairman of the Soviet Memorial Trust who was unable to be present but who had described Mr Le Sueur as ‘a true son of Jersey’.
