Salmonella outbreak at Les Ormes function

Two were so seriously ill that they had to be hospitalised. Public Health officials confirmed today that all those affected had been at the same function and that a baked Alaska pudding had been the source of the salmonella. An investigation has established that an infected batch of liquidised egg white used to make meringue for the pudding was to blame. As a result, the egg white, which is produced at approved premises in France, has now been withdrawn from sale in what has been described as a ‘major international recall’.
