He told a Family Law conference yesterday: ‘Broken marriages are a social misfortune. Broken children are a tragedy.’ Sir Philip was opening the conference at the Pomme d’Or Hotel organised by the Jersey Family Law Association on the subject of contact and complex private law child issues. Sir Philip said that he had some experience of difficult cases involving ‘implacable hostility where the child was but a pawn in the serious game of war between two antagonistic parents’.
