The States department is due to move to the Liberty Wharf site on the Waterfront early next year but the lease on the offices above Redvers does not expire until 2012.
Economic Development’s director of business creation, Sean Pritchard, said the office space would suit the needs of business start-ups who might otherwise be working from home.
Mr Pritchard explained: ‘There is room here for smaller offices and also a meeting room, which could be let to start-ups for a subsidised peppercorn rent to start with, and then hopefully they will be able to move on once they have got going.
‘The main benefit is that they don’t have to go to a landlord and sign up for years – especially if their idea doesn’t work out.
