Senator Shenton agreed to accept the offer of the post from Senator Syvret over the weekend, following the resignation on Friday of Deputy Celia Scott Warrren. This followed the sacking, by Senator Syvret, of former St Lawrence Constable Iris Le Feuvre from her post as head of a child protection co-ordination committee. Deputy Scott Warren resigned in protest at Senator Syvret’s actions in attacking the Island’s child protection system. The new Assistant Health Minister, Senator Shenton, said that he wants the allegations made about the system by Senator Syvret ‘fairly and properly investigated’ by someone who is not part of the Jersey civil service.
