He says new computer systems are costing tens of millions of pounds and has criticised calls from the Institute of Directors for more investment in IT infrastructure. In a letter in today’s JEP, Deputy Breckon claims that the States have spent £30 million already on IT systems and plan to spend £35 million more before 2012. He says that if the States are going to ask Islanders to pay more tax through a Goods and Services Tax then ministers should start spending money ‘more wisely’.
