Coke cash boost for Island football clubs

It is the longest agreement to date between the two parties as the previous three years were all backed by one-year deals.

Combination president Tim Darwin said: ‘The Combination and its clubs now have financial security for the next three years and as president I’m delighted.

‘The five-figure sum is a significant increase over our previous agreements and it gives us stability, both for the league and the clubs.

‘Cimandis are showing a great commitment to us with this support.

All the money we receive goes directly back into the clubs as they are rewarded for winning divisional titles and cups and for their respective placings at the end of each season.

‘Because of the large increase this year we are resurrecting the cash bonus for winning games by three-clear goals this season.

‘As I say every penny goes back to the clubs to help them operate and everyone is extremely grateful to Cimandis for their continued support.’ Jersey’s football clubs kick-off their season next week with annual curtain-raiser of the Jersey Football Association’s Charity Cup competition.

The JFC Division I programme commences on Saturday 25 August.
