Members voted down a proposal to remove the 12 Constables, proposed by Deputy Geoff Southern yesterday afternoon, by an overwhelming 42 votes to two. The vote was the first of a reform debate that looks likely to last for the rest of the day, and which could run into tomorrow. Several reform proposals are on the table in the form of propositions and amendments including a six super-constituency model that would end the parish link to Deputies, the removal of Senators and a universal four-year term.
