Top drivers chase points and Bouley Bay hill record

Many of the best drivers in Britain will be here to fight for championship points and perhaps steal Martin Groves’ outright record of 38.47 sec set last year in his 600+ bhp Gould racing car.

Reigning champion Groves is being pressed very hard this year by Scott Moran who has the championship lead by 13 points from Groves coming to Jersey while Scott’s father Roger Moran, in third, has the speed to challenge for wins of which he has several of in the past.

Simon Darling returns again with sweet memories of his first ever championship victory at Bouley Bay in 2006 – he will be hoping to repeat the feat with the larger engine in his car this year.

Interestingly two UK rally cars will be racing with James Hoseason in a Darrian and Mike Wilgoss in a Ford Escort Cosworth.

Both will have a hard task to challenge local driver Chris Le Bonniec in his Escort Cosworth as his experience at the hill is vast.

The championship drivers will be competing alongside the best of the local competitors on two wheels as well as four.

Bruce Dingle has been winning races in the NORA Sport National Supermoto championship and will be fired up to challenge Oliver Holmes’s 2005 bike record on his new Aprilia VDB.

Richard Twinam will be hoping for a return to form as he has been off the pace so far this year while Glyn Moignard and Christina Holley will be battling Twinam for the fastest local accolade with Jason Mourant possibly joining the battle.

Many Guernsey competitors will also be competing including Mike Endean in the 600 bhp Puma Gould, one of the fastest saloon cars ever to race the hill.

Practice runs start at 10 am with official runs and the two championship top twelve run offs to follow.

Admission is £3 for adults including a race programme, parking is free and well sign posted from the top of Trinity Hill.
