The company, Silverdell plc, is one of the country’s leading asbestos removal and management contractors and has been a finalist in the annual Construction News awards for the past five years.
It has recently finished work on the Royal Festival Hall and has also worked on London’s Shell Building.
Mr Williams, who also holds board positions with Augean, the hazardous waste firm, and Zetar, the chocolate manufacturing company, said that he was particularly pleased that Silverdell had won the award because it recognised the hard work which had been put into training and health and safety, two company priorities.
He also outlined Silverdell’s environmental policy, which involves planting trees for every contract over a certain value.
So far this year 6,000 trees have been planted on land set aside for the purpose near Biggin Hill on the outskirts of London.
