The recycling statistics were revealed by Transport Minister Guy de Faye following a written question from Deputy Shona Pitman. Figures showed that major increases had taken place between 2002 and 2006 with paper and card recycling rising from 1,389 tonnes in 2002 to 6,571 tonnes last year. Textiles collected by the Salvation Army and sent to their factory in Kettering in the UK increased from 168 tonnes to 436 tonnes over that period.
