JFA simply Wilde about three-year deal

The three-year deal has been signed with the Wilde Family Office Limited who will be the JFA’s main sponsor together with being specific sponsor of its men’s and women’s senior teams.

The deal – believed to be the biggest in Channel Islands football – does not, however, mean that a proposed players’ membership scheme to raise funds will be shelved.

A working party report has been completed and it will be discussed later this month by club delegates who attend the monthly Coca-Cola Jersey Football Combination delegates’ meeting.

It is proposed to charge players to play annually, £90 a year for seniors and £45 for juniors – with two-thirds of the fee being returned to clubs directly.

The new six-figure three-year sponsorship agreement will commence at the beginning of the 2007-2008 season.

JFA president Ricky Weir said: ‘Obviously I’m delighted, this is a phenomenal deal for Jersey football and a massive lift for everybody.

Michael understands and supports our vision in seeking to take our men’s and women’s game forward to a higher level.’ Simon Voisin, chief executive of the sponsors, and speaking on behalf of Mr Wilde said: ‘We are very impressed with the presentation that was made and the vision that the JFA has for the future of Island football.

Given his long love of football, Michael was delighted to be able to assist the JFA in trying to realise those ambitions.’
