Members voted by 29-8 to record their disapproval of the Health Minister’s open letter to developer Richard Brocken which condemned States Members and policies past and present, describing an establishment clique running Jersey purely for the benefit of the rich and influential. They also asked him to resign from the Privileges and Procedures Committee which oversees States conduct and behaviour. The Senator eagerly did so. But the debate will be remembered for the Senator seconding the motion himself, and then voting for it. At the start of the sitting he called for all Members to declare whether they were Freemasons or not – but the proposal was ruled out of order by the Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache.
