Having recently beaten Guernsey as well, Jersey’s captain, Jenna Meredith said: ‘It’s been a brilliant week winning the inter insular last week away from home and now this.

I am so proud of the squad as there is a lot of hard work and commitment that goes into putting together a run of form like this.’ The team, known as J United for the UK league, played fluently against Bournemouth with Sharon West stepping into the squad at the last moment to great effect at wing defence.

And with an impressive display in both defence and attack, Jersey went into half time with a healthy 25-10 lead.

The second half was much the same and with a continued dominance, defenders Hayley Miller, Lauren Devine and Lara Crenan kept the opposition’s scoring opportunities to a minimum.

The transfer from defence to attack looked effortless with sisters Calli Bushell at centre and Jenna Meredith at wing attack opening up Bournemouth’s defence with some impressive moves.

And in the attacking circle, the movement and shooting accuracy of both Lynsey Pitman and Laura Beeston was outstanding, ensuring that Jersey remained in total control, putting on an exhibition to win by a massive 34 goals.

Now with only two matches remaining against tough opposition ECS Predators and St Austell, Jersey have an increasingly strong chance of promotion.

If they win the league they will play the winners of the North Sub-Regional League for a place in the South-West Premier League, and Meredith added: ‘I can’t wait until the final two games of the league now to see if we can make it to the play off game.’ J United were supported by Wheways.com and Dr John Fossey.

J United squad: Laura Beeston, Lynsey Pitman, Jenna Meredith (captain), Calli Bushell, Hayley Miller, Lauren Devine, Lara Crenan, Sharon West.

Coaches: Maureen Cox and Ally Meredith.
