The Council of Ministers is to hold an emergency session on Wednesday afternoon to consider what action to take in response to the Health Minister’s letter. Chief Minister Frank Walker said today that neither he nor any other minister would comment publicly until then. Senator Syvret said he would not comment on the contents but that he had had nothing but wholesale support from people who had already read the letter after he had circulated it by e-mail. The Senator’s unprecedented outburst takes the form of an open letter to businessman Richard Brocken, whose plan for a private hospital was rejected by Health. Ostensibly a reply to two letters from Mr Brocken to the JEP about what he viewed as Senator Syvret’s left-wing politics, the riposte develops into a 3,000-word diatribe against not only Mr Brocken but also a string of historic and recent States decisions, as well as States Members past and present.
