Along with Miss Collins (30), Guernseyman Chad Murray (28) has become the youngest certificate holder, with Captain Steve Ainscow also completing the course. The three, who have been training for the exams all winter, received their results yesterday and can now take the helm of the vessels Condor Express, Condor Vitesse and Condor 10 when they sail in and out of Jersey. Miss Collins, who comes from Poole, is the first woman to have completed the course. She said: ‘I didn’t really think about being the first woman to qualify, but it is a fantastic opportunity to have, and even after five years with Condor, being on the bridge of one of the ships as it comes into St Helier continues to be a really exciting experience – and now with the added responsibilities of pilotage.’ Along with Mr Murray, she is now likely to take command of a Condor vessel within the next year.
