St John Constabled elected unopposed

News | Published:

VINGTENIER Graeme Butcher was elected unopposed as Constable of St John last night.

He said he was honoured to have been elected and was looking forward to the job.

'This is absolutely fantastic.

I really didn't expect it to go like this tonight, I expected there to be an election,' he said.

'I am happy and honoured to be able to serve the parish.

I am looking forward to the challenges ahead.

I know there will be many.

I am under no illusion that the role of Constable will be an easy one.' He said that he planned to deal with a number of issues, including the recreation centre, the proposed new community centre and housing for the elderly.

Mr Butcher added that his door would always be open to parishioners.
