All of them are either retired, or students, or people who have taken time off work.
And one of them has a special place in his heart for the Jersey team.
He is Phil de la Haye, whose great-grandfather emigrated to Australia in the 1890s with his grandfather (who was 14 at the time) in tow.
Phil always knew from his name that he had a connection with Jersey, but he didn’t start any proper research until about 15 years ago.
Phil ended up working in the bowels of the Melbourne Cricket Ground for the opening ceremony and will be doing the same for the closing ceremony.
He is in charge of making sure that all the athletes and volunteers enter the arena at the right time.
