Poll’s ‘no’ to gay sex age change

Poll’s ‘no’ to gay sex age change

Callers backed Deputies Gerard Baudains and James Reed in their opposition to Home Affairs Minister Wendy Kinnard’s proposal to equalise the age of consent for straight and gay couples, which comes back to the States on Tuesday.

Of the callers, 101 did not want the age of consent for homosexual couples lowered to 16, and 52 were in favour.

The number of callers is slightly below the average voteline poll, but the margin showed an almost two thirds majority against the proposal.
