Steve Luce, of the Jersey Oyster Company, said that was an option being considered as they await to find out whether Emeraude Ferries will return to the St Malo route.
The Sogestran-owned ferry company has cancelled sailings until the end of February at the earliest, and the cancellations are causing a real headache to Mr Luce’s business.
‘We have a problem with regular supplies midweek into France.
There is a weekend freight boat, but we have regular deliveries with a packer in France that need to go on weekdays,’ he said.
Mr Luce said that even if they used a smaller van that would comply with ramp weight restrictions on Condor vessels, there were not enough sailings to meet their needs.
