The owners have been forced to shut down the under-twos department at the nursery, which will close on 6 January 2006, because it has become financially unviable.
It is the second west-of-Island nursery in a week to announce it is closing because of financial difficulties.
Manager Maria Smith said 27 nursery places would be lost and 11 qualified staff made redundant as a result of the closure.
Last week it was announced that Sunny Smiles pre-school, the only nursery in St Ouen, will close on 16 December.
Proprietor Sue Medland said they did not have enough children to make the school viable and there were also problems in complying with the strict rules governing the provision of facilities for very young children.
Mrs Smith of Goose Corner said: ‘It has been the case for the last couple of years that it has become commercially unviable to look after under-twos because it costs more to provide a good service.
‘It has become more difficult because of the new Employment Law and the requirement for registration with Day Care Services, as well as rising standards, which are very good for all concerned but cost more.
On Tuesday the bank withdrew their support.
‘The nursery is still up and running and will be restructuring with the help of Day Care Services and we will be able to provide many more places for children over two years of age.
It is hoped that the 11 well trained and highly valued members of staff will be snapped up by other day care establishments.’ She said they valued the relationships with the families of the young children and had kept the group going for as long as they could.
‘All the staff will be delighted to see our children again when they reach the age of two should parents wish to return to us.
We have grown very fond of them all and know that we can provide an excellent play-based curriculum for under-fives,’ she added.
