The OVs take on Worcester HC on home soil while JHA make the trip to the England to take on Burton HC who lie second in the East Midlands League Premier Division.

OVs came through round one – a ‘home’ fixture against Penzance HC in Southampton – when they won on a penalty stroke shoot out after a 1-1 draw in normal time.

In the second round OVs are at home again, but this time their opponents are travelling to Jersey.

Worcester comfortably beat GEC Rugby 8-3 in the first round and last year reached the third round before going out to ISCA.

Their side features a number of top players, including former England international striker Malcolm Wilkinson.

But OVs have every reason to be positive, despite missing one or two players through injury or work.

Not only did they enjoy their first round HA Cup win against Penzance but they are also unbeaten in league and cup competitions this season with three draws and five victories – and have their own goal machine in Nigel de Carteret, who warmed up last week-end with four goals in a 6-5 win.

Jersey Hockey Club, meanwhile, will be missing a number of players who helped them through the first round as they face a side who beat Leicester 6-4 in the first round.

They are having to rely on the recall of a number of senior players.

Richard de Figueiredo, Jonathan Morley-Kirk and David Ballingall join the squad in defence, with Tobi Matthews and Will Kay available up front.

Peter Taylor is still carrying an injury, but his performance in the last round justifies his place, as well as his versatility in being able to play anywhere.

Paul Masterton, Rob Hurry and Conrad Evans will be vital in midfield – it was their performance that gave the platform for the win in the first round.

Mark Bailey will be playing sweeper, in front of ‘keeper Tim Pollard.

In attack Nick and Peter Taylor, together with Matthews and Kay, giving a number of attacking options.

The OVs match is at Claremont Field, Victoria College starting at 1.30 pm.
