Jersey Dairy wrote to all retailers last week saying that from 1 November they could decide what prices to charge.
The move was made because the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority (JCRA) had earlier expressed concern to the dairy that its pricing system could fall foul of the provisions of the new law.
The dairy acted voluntarily and the JCRA now hopes this will be the first of many examples of businesses volunteering to change price arrangements to comply with the law.
